Due to an overwhelming response, considerations for 2022 board members has now closed. We will continue to accept applications on a rolling basis, and we will begin reviewing applications again in late 2022/early 2023 for next round of new members in 2023.
Help us build a better village through Board services at TPQC!
At TPQC, we’re on a mission to build a better village for people living with HIV and the LGBTQ+ community, but we need your help to make it happen!
Over the past several years, our organization has grown to meet the needs of the people we serve, and now it’s time for our Board of Directors to grow in equal measure! Because the Board is the backbone of every successful nonprofit, we are committed to finding folks who are ready to turn their passion into purpose, and help us build a firm foundation on which we can continue to grow for many years to come.
Want to know more about what Board members do? Great! We’ve got you covered!
What does it mean to be on a Board?
The Board of Directors is the governing body of a nonprofit organization, who steers the organization towards a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies, as well as by making sure the nonprofit has adequate resources to advance its mission. The Board of Directors is a vital part of the safety and success of the organization.
Sounds like a big job… what exactly would I have to do?
Regular attendance at monthly Board meetings is the primary responsibility of the Board of Directors. At these meetings, the Board will make decisions that guide the organization forward and this is where you’ll learn the basics of the business. Throughout the year, there will be other opportunities to volunteer your time, talent, and treasure, but all additional volunteer opportunities are optional. Attendance at the meetings is truly the only commitment of time.
Do I have to have past Board experience to apply?
Absolutely not! We are looking for folks with all sorts of professional skill sets and experiences and past Board experience is not a requirement. Because we are committed to being led by folks who have lived experiences similar to the people we serve, we will be giving special consideration to applicants who are people of color, LGBTQ+ individual, and people living with HIV; but the most important qualification is your commitment to helping us advance the mission in our local community!
